Overview

Upon completion of the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) course, you'll be able to:
  • Understand the basics of JSA.
  • Identify and control hazards to reduce incidents and injuries.
  • Participate in the development of efficient operating procedures that reduce personal injuries and operating costs.
  • Complete a JSA form correctly.
Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is a proven process for controlling operating hazards and costs.  The JSA is a participatory process, requiring input, feedback and cooperative effort from the line employees, supervisors and upper management. The course provides participants with a step-by-step overview of the JSA process, and examines the participant's role in the JSA. The class is taught through lecture, demonstrations and workshops. Students analyze sample work tasks to familiarize themselves with the basic elements of the JSA process.  Participants examine:
  • Breaking the job task into component steps.
  • Identifying hazards inherent in task performance.
  • Specifying hazard controls.
