The Automated Equipment Safety Assessment Best Practices Course is a hands-on training program. It is geared to safety, health, and environment management personnel who have responsibility for conducting or coordinating safety assessments for jobs using automated equipment. The course provides safety assessment best practices for identifying and reducing hazards specific to the use of automated equipment.

You will be involved in your own learning experience through interactive, instructional exercises. Combined with information, these activities provide you with opportunities to apply newly learned concepts for conducting effective automated safety assessments.

During the training, you will:

  • Conduct a safety assessment for automated equipment
  • Develop task procedures to avoid and reduce hazards during operation and maintenance of existing automated equipment
  • Write purchasing specifications for new automated equipment, equipment upgrades, and equipment servicing

The course addresses these safety topics:

  • Accidents/Mishaps resulting from automation failures
  • Steps in applying a safety assessment to automated equipment
  • Operation and maintenance procedures which incorporate safety tasks
  • Specifying requirements for purchasing safe automated equipment
